Is making professional assembly sheets a daunting task that takes you forever? Then, you might not be following this 3-step process that simplifies your work and saves your time and energy.
Laying the Foundation: Bases, inspiration, and drafts.
Before starting work on the assembly sheet:
- Ensure you have a clear vision of your garment. Having an inspirational board with pictures and even mock-ups of some details is essential.
- Create a detailed draft outlining all the information your manufacturer will need to bring your idea to life.
- Frame the callouts needed to explain design details. Write all the references needed to make the illustrations clear, and draft those seams that need to be clarified to ensure the quality you want from the beginning.
To speed up the process, we use our templates as bases. For the video below, we used two of our templates and the JPG Seams. You probably have your own templates, so the steps remain the same.
By leveraging resources like those, you save time and maintain consistency across your designs.
